97 Silverado 5.7 engine clicking noise

I have had this truck since new, and it has 154k on it. It has always had the same oil in it since new and changed every 3k.
This eve I started it to take it to town and the engine was making a clicking sound drivers side area. At higher rpms same sound that followed the rpms.
Turned it off and then about 10 minutes started it again same sound, walked down the driveway as I let it run for about 10 minutes and when I came back it was gone. This truck has age but has been well cared for, it was not cold here today , about 30 , thats warm for here in winter. Lifters?

If the noise if from the valve cover area pull valve cover and check rocker arms and push rod.

If this sounds like lifter noise I would start by checking and replacing the PCV and rubber hoses in the crankcase vent system..also check the hose/PCV rubber mounts for condition..
If the crankcase can not vent vapors, the moisture in winter condensation , will cause oil contamination quickly...this will cause the lifters to leak down....excessive carbon from short trips also will make this more of an issue..
