remote cassette player wiring

I have a 2002 non-Bose Yukon with an OEM separate cassette player. There is a 9 pin connector. I am trying to wire directly an mp3 player and have found the wires for the left and right channels, and audio ground. I also found 12 volts, etc. If I place a blank cassette in the player, I can attach my mp3 player to the cassette player output, and the player plays great. I want to not have to put a blank cassette in the player, but rather make the system "think" there is one in there. I'm told this cassette player is the same as from 1995 to 2002 Yukon and Tahoe.

 Does anyone know the wiring of the output of the cassette player? What each wire color represents?

 Does anyone know if there is a "logic" that I need to do, like short the green wire to the black wire to make the head unit think there is a cassette in the unit?

Below are the 9 wire colors and what I believe they represent:

Orange = 12 volt always hot
Green = reads about 10.5 volts all ways
Black = chassis ground
Black w/ white stripe = ???
Brown w/white stripe = audio left channel
Green w/white stripe = audio right channel
unshielded = audio ground
Gray = ??? (possibly dimmer?)
Violet = 12 volt with key "on" or in accessory position

what are the pin numbers 1-9 or 7-15 etc..

If I am looking in on the mating side of the connector, with the connector retaining spring upward (if i remember correctly),

pin 1 = orange
pin 2 = green
pin 3 = black
pin 4 = black with white stripe
pin 5 = brown with white stripe
pin 6 = green with white stripe
pin 7 = unshielded
pin 8 = gray
pin 9 = violet

One sheet I found from Crutchfield actually has them numbered 21 thru 29, beginning with violet and ending with orange (opposite direction of my listing above) but it is only a 9 pin connector, so their counting scheme may be considering something else???? Crutchfield gave no other description or anything on this connector though.

7-pink = R14/radio signal on ?,8-gray =dimming,9-bare shield=ground,10-dk grn/wht= rt output,11-brn/wht= Lft output,12-blk/wht=audio common, 13-blk=ground,14-dk grn = e&c data serial...15-orn=battery

I did this hardwire a long time ago and it sounds amazing, but I can not use it unless a cassette is in the player. Now the player has started ejecting any cassette after insertion and I can not use this anymore. Did you ever figure out a way to make the radio think there is a cassette in there without there actually being one?

this owner removed the cassette player and installed an MP3 player...using the oem connector with the wire list you can use this to play another device...

your casstte player needs cleaning / or the driver circuit for the motor is defective..///try another much smaller time length tape this will move easier than a 60 min tape...

Nope, I sure haven't....from what I can tell, the serial data line would have to be hacked into...the cassette player isn't too complex, can you see why it's kicking out cassettes on you? If it is overly sensitive to cassette drag, maybe you can take a tape apart and reassemble it with only the tape reels, but no tape. It'll spin fast, but maybe it'll easy enough on the motor that it doesn't eject the tape....lastly, you may be able to take the cassette player apart and see what mecahnical levers are thrown when the tape is inserted, and some how restrain them in place.....

j Cat, when you installed your MP3 player, how do you select between the CD player on the head unit and your MP3 player?
