Ok Guys Here's the scoop I recently baught a 1996 4X4 tahoe shell with no motor and dropped a motor my buddy had from a 2000 2WD Cargo Van and It runs really good as is but this is also my little project truck now. I'v never heard of anymone doing any major mods to these motors and was wondering if anyone out here has or has any part suggestions or tips on what t odo with this motor.

Need an engine size to help you out. Specifics on the van type and possibly VIN number can pinpoint this. The 2000 model year express vans were usually outfitted with either the 5.0L (1/2-ton only), 5.7L, or 7.4L (1-ton only) gas engines. The 5.7L (350 ci) being the most common, it has a s**tload of upgrades available. Then the big-block 7.4L (454 ci). Least common was the 5.0L, really only for light hauling, and the good-but-underpowered 4.3L V6 for your app.
This thread should move to the Tahoe section...it'll get seen by more knowledgeable peeps there.

a salvage yard could tell you what all the moters that would fit in your car they got the books on inter change for your moters. or like mod said by vin numbers.

If that's the case, then how fast do you wanna go and how much do you wanna spend? For the 350, the world is your oyster.... Granted for your Tahoe, which is a four-wheeled 3-ton tank, speed will be limited, so be realistic. But you should be able to find many goodies to make that sucker move: engine, suspension, etc. Good luck & have fun!
