Cluster Lighting

Hello,
On a 2002 Monte, when the daylight sensor turns the headlights on the cluster/radio lights will turn off. Has anyone had this problem before? Any help would be great.

A few months ago , my 2000 Impala LS started having a similar problem , perhaps the same problem ? When the DRL's went off and the regular headlights came on , the dash cluster ,the power window and door lock lighting , and the floor mounted gearshift indicator lighting all would go off ! It turned out to be the headlight switch . It contains all the electronics that control the dimming of the before mentioned lighting when it gets dark outside and the regular headlights come on . I replaced it myself ( not hard to do ) and the problem went away ! I bought it at Autozone and I think it was in the $ 70 range , can't remember for sure now . Let us know what you find out .
