So, open and closed tops huh? I hope it won't be curbside, and we could use the engine in different Ferrari kits.

Why two different versions? Weird, but I'm happy nevertheless! Now only if they made a Maserati Gran Turismo.

I'd love a kit of the Gran Turismo. At least Mondo Motors has a decent one in 1/24 scale.
The California makes me ill. From the A pillars back it looks like a grotesque Lexus SC 430 in drag.

In which other Ferrari do you want to use the California V8?
New mold  Not sure...
I´m quite curious, too! Can´t believe they really going to make new molds for Trabant and T1 Samba.
In my opinion a new-mold-T5 Transporter would be much more interesting! :grinyes:

Thanks for posting the news.
They left me in split feelings, though. I'd really like to see a new Trabant tooling, because the old one is way off the original in shape and overall proportions. Ferrari California leaves me unthrilled because it's rather ugly (replace rather with b*tt if you prefer) and I'm generally sick of seeing only Ferrari in model shops :(
T1 must be a reissue. There is nothing wrong with the Hasegawa (reboxed as Revell) kit. I doubt that they make a new tool for that just to bring it from curbside to having an engine?? They should rather re-release or make new tools for T2, T3, T4 and T5. And by the way, I'd really prefer a Mercedes Sprinter or Viano over a T5 *dream*.

Well, they could use the engine to make the Maserati Gran Turismo and the Alfa 8C, right? Does the Alfa use a Ferrari-sourced engine?

Yes, it's kind of a cruel joke; the Maserati, Alfa 8C and Cali Spider are all related and based on same basic front-engine architecture, have basically the same engine (Ferrari will get the most HP and best tuning), and the Ferrari is the fugly one. Go figure :banghead: :crying:
Makes me sad that cars as cool as the Gran Turismo and 8C probably won't get done in plastic. Diecast is the only option. Another cruel joke because the Cali Spider is the perfect subject for cheesy cheap 1/18 diecast. :crying: :crying:

If Tamiya wasn't such a dud this days, they would have produced these just as they did back in the day. I don't mind a new California kit, but would forgo it in return for producing either the Alfa or Maserati, or even an Aston.

I'm convinced more than ever seeing that and Revell/Ferrari doing the Cali Spider that Revell AG is planning a new "Desperate Housewives" series of kits.
Now, where's that Aston DB9 Volante w/Eva Longoria?
