2000 Cav when heater is on....

My 2000 Cav has approx 95K miles. Lately when I have the heat on it seems as if the engine looses power, I can feel a vibration in the gas peddle. When I turn off the heat it runs fine (I guess). Also, engine light was on went out after a week, not worried about that too much has happened before. Is this a sign of something going wrong with the engine??? My rear defrost doesn't work. Thought it might be a fuse..nope. Not that important. Female, and I don't want to have to deal with repair shop unless I kind of have an idea what's wrong. Other than that I have never had any major problems out of this vehicle since I've had it. I keep it tuned, oil changed regularly, come on guys get at me. It's too cold here to be on the side of the road.

Hard to say. Mine (00 with 109,000 on the clock) I'm going crazy with having to keep it from rusting away.:disappoin Anyway, if there is little to no heat, have the thermostat checked. Mine my father in law is helping me replace hopefully this weekend, plus a flush of the coolant.

In the case of the defroster, are there any grids broken? Or does the entire mechanism not work?
