4x4 problems please help

i got a 97 1500 silverado today i was using my 4x4 shut if off and when i when to get back in it the 4x4 didnt work, so i checked the fuse and seen it was blowin, so i put a new fuse in it and it pops, in either 4hi or 4lo it doesnt blow in 2hi, and i also noticed when i put the fuse in i thought i smelt burnt wire i also noticed that the 4x4 lights near the shifter are not working either can any1 help me?

disconnect the 4x4 motor connector then see if it blows...if not the motor is shorted out....common problem

update i did some test and found out that my actuator was bad put a new one in and it solved eveything nice easy cheap fix. thanx

that is exactly what I thought....make sure that the fluid is replaced or is still good....good luck
