AF Model Of The Year 2008
MPWR
12-30-2008, 04:51 PM
Yes, AFMOTY is back for 2008. We're getting a slightly later start than usual, but now it's game on!
Builders will submit their best image of their best finished car or bike model from 2008, and members will vote for their favorite.
AF members who have joined AF BEFORE the 1st December 2008 may enter.
Open to model cars, trucks, and bikes only.
Entries must be completed this year (2008), between the dates of 1/1/2008 and 1/15/2009 by AF members registered before 1st December 2008. The entry period is two weeks longer than usual due to the late start this year.
Deadline for entries is 15th January 2009.
Only ONE model may be entered per person.
The Judges decisions will be FINAL.
There will be one small change from previous years. Builder's usernames will not be displayed with their entry image. Entry images will have an entry number and a model description (e.g. 31. Lamborghini Jota). If you recognize some of the builds and know their builders, great. If you recognize all of the builds and know their builders, you may very well be the AF Car Modeling Member OF The Year. But votes this year will be for builds, not builders.
HOW TO ENTER
Entries are now closed
HOW TO VOTE
Voting will start on or about January 16, 2008 when the Official AFMOTY 08 Entries thread is posted, and will run for two weeks.
Each model will be identified by its number and description.
To vote, simply send a PM to both 360spider and willimo with your vote. Include both usernames in the recipient window of your PM
In the title window of your voting PM, place MOTY votes: (your username) ex- MOTY votes: MPWR
Votes not received by both 360spider and Willimo will not be counted
You can allocate points to THREE (3) MODELS.
1st=3pts
2nd=2pts
3rd=1pt
Identify the builds you wish to apply your votes to by their entry number and description
NO OTHER VOTING METHODS WILL BE ACCEPTED
Only AF members that joined BEFORE 1st December 2008 may vote. This is intended to avoid the possibility of people logging on with different names to vote again. If a vote is suspect, it will be investigated and if necessary deleted along with any involved entries.
You CAN NOT vote for your own model.
The judges decision will be FINAL.
In the event of a tie, the model that received the most 3pt votes will be declared the winner. If still a tie - then the most 2pt votes.
Some cool people have offered some cool prizes. At this point, it appears that the top five finishers will receive something. A big thanks to the prize providers!
A big thanks also to 360spider and Willimo for helping put the event on.
Good luck, have fun, and let's see your best from 2008!! :thumbsup:

Yeah yeah yeah!!! AFMOTY 2008 is actually happening :)
Thank you very much for putting it together MPWR. I hope there will be as many entries as in 2007.
There have been plenty of incredible builds in 2008, both in quality and creativity!
Just think about Jean Paul and the Indonesian Scooter for example.
I donate a 1:12 Ferrari F40 for the AFMOTY 2008 winner.
It must be built and entered in AFMOTY 2009, though. :evillol:

I will add a prize: a Revell AG 1:24 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti kit and MSM Creation 1:24 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale decals. To make the contest more interesting, this prize will be awarded to a person/model that gets 18 points (6+1+2+3+6+0=18). If there will be a tie, one model will get the kit, the other one decals. I hope there will be no 3-way or more ties :-)

Damn Alex, what do you smoke?
I re-read the rules 2 times before to realize the 18 points game.... :D
One thing is sure: it would be the most rich Moty :D, at least judging by prizes :D

I'm getting excited about this now. The 15th? Wow, if only Hiroboy re-opened earlier...I've still got time to make one more model :eek:. Oh and I might as well take this opportunity to say thank you to those donating prizes...whether I get anything or not, ha! Can't wait to see all the great builds of 2008.

In the event of a tie, the model that received the most 3pt votes will be declared the winner. If still a tie - then the most 2pt votes.
Should'n this be the other way around? If there's a tie, the model with most 2pt votes will be the winner. And if it's still a tie, the model with most 3pt votes? or do I see this wrong?

Do you follow F1?
If Felipe finishes the season with 98 points and Lewis finishes with 99 points, then Lewis wins. If Felipe and Lewis each end the season with 98 points, then whoever has won the most races during the season wins. If they've won the same number, it goes to who has finished second the most often.
If we have 40 models entered, and 100 people vote, think of it as a series of 100 races between 40 cars. If Alex and I each finish with 18 points, but 6 people vote his build as their favorite versus 9 people voting mine their second favorite, then Alex wins.

Of course, I mixed 3points votes with 3th place votes.... stupid stupid ;-)
