Ive recently been having a dome light problem with my 2001 GA GT, when i go and open the door chime will sound as if my key is in the ignition, but also when i close the door and turn the car on the dome/rear mirror will not turn off unless i drive above 5mph and then when i stop the lights come back on. Also when i shut the car off the radio will usually stay on and now it shuts off as if i had opened the door when i didnt. I have checked all fuses and relays and all check good, and im figuring it either the igniton cylinder or the door latch, anyone suggest a direction i should go with first?

The best is to get it scanned for B codes...or you can try disconnecting ignition switch connector and see if you still have problems with dome light and key in sound when you open the door and the key is not in the ignition.

Welcome to AF JBramley26 !!

Getting it scanned with a GM Tech 2 would be the best idea.

Here is a procedure to test the ignition switch, dont think thats the problem though.
Ignition switch-Lock Cylinder check/replace 99+ Grand am's & some other N-bodies (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=715987)

You can also pop off the door panel and see if any wires/plugs are loose. And here's a link that has the disassembly for the door panel.

Good luck and have a great and safe New Years!

most likely bad ground or short to ground somewhere around the door swithc. Does it do the same thing when you open eather left or right front door or just driver's door? Still let me know what happens if you discoect the igniton switch. Happy New Year to everyone.

Well xero & 3100, i want to thank you for your input. Checked the areas you said and also read a few other posts from the both of you and it turned out that the ignition switch/cylinder and door latch were working fine, but after some investigations i took the BCM out and it turn out that it had corrosion on the connectors and circuit board, had some electrical clear and a soft tooth brush, cleaned it spottless and hooked it back up and its workingg fine for now. I will be buying a new one for replacement later just in case. Thank you again for your help, wouldnt have figured it out without you both.
