Drivers seat issues

Looks like the drivers seat in my Van has just about had it. The recline lever does not work any more so I called the dealership to try & get the recliner piece replaced but was told to get the seat back to 100% would cost me about $500.00! WOW, I DROPPED THE PHONE!
I know I could prob. visit a few salvage yards and possibly find something.
I was wondering if other users had some ideas or possibly some links. I have no clue what a seat would co$t if I where to replace with a new seat. I would like someting that would match the other seats.
Also, any links to places that sell replacement carpet? Not the mats but the full on carpet?
Thanks all

Well, I know someone who needed to replace the driver's seat in an Intrepid - dealer quoted her 2 grand. :screwy: Junkyard had them 2 for $50. Came plastic wrapped and delivered for that price, plus the new ones were power.

Very definitely hit the junk yards. The driver's side seatback on my '92 GV went south, so I hit a local yard and got a '95 Doge Caravan seat for $25. If you can't find a matching color, you can always spends a few bucks more and get a pair of seat covers. You're still way ahead of the dealer quote. It's easiest if you can stay within the same generation, unless of course you can find the same year.

Thanks, I think the salvage yard will be my best bet

Try ebay. You would be surprised.
You probably will want to find out what your trim code is, if you want an exact match. It is a series of 6-7 letters and numbers, and I think it is on a sticker on the door piller.

hi, I just read your thread and I was wondering if the seat lever could not be replaced by something better and more convenient to use. The problem of broken seat lever has been mentioned so often in ohter forums so there have to be a solution . :runaround:
I am searching now for someone who has already changed his seat adjustment in a new revolutionary way.
So if you know anyone, please send me the link.
Thank you!!
