Steering Problem?

To add to the long list of things that have gone wrong with my 200 Bravada, I now can add something new. This morning I kept thinking I had a flat when going around corners. Not so, just felt sloppy. Then I heard a thud and I needed to turn the wheel about 20 degrees left to drive straight, I went and parked after a couple of hard turns. Decided to drive home to switch vehicles. Truck seemed pretty normal, but a little sloppy. Are the wheels about to fall off - literally? Looking for a new vehicle, tired of the constant problems.
