I'm trying to help my father-in-law with his 1988 Olds 88. It has a vibration when it goes over 45 mph that gets worse with speed. Sounds/feels like a low hum. Should also let you all know the car was in an accident - hit every corner on an icy bridge. completely went through the front brakes - new calipers, hoses, pads, rotors - with no change (the brakes needed the attention as both calipers were sticking). Any suggestions on where to look? Thanks for any/all suggestions.

could have messed up the hub where the bearing in. also are you using same tire and rim? if so rim can be bent or broke a belt in your tire but if you changed tire and rim take it a get it on alignment rack. like i said hub could be shot and i'm sure it messed up alignment. also if you have time jack the wheel up you think the sounds coming from and spin the tire see if it wobbles.

Thanks. I was thinking hub as well, but it is not at all clear where the vibration is coming from. The whole car seems to resonate. It feels solid even at 45 mph except for the hum. I could not feel any looseness in any of the hubs with the wheels mounted on them. I know this is not a proof-positive test for hubs - I lost one on a Chevy that was still tight, but clunked during turns and braking (thought at first it was the CV joint). Alignment sounds a like a good idea, but it feels good - no pull or drift. Of course, after the accident it could be off just enough... Thanks for the advice.
