how long are the duramax's lasting?

what i want to know is how long the duramax diesals are lasting ( how many miles are they good for before they start breaking down.) also what are they getting for mileage. im looking at a 2005 chevy 2500hd with a little over 300K.
just trying to find some insit on it before buying.
