Brake problems

I have a 96 Pontiac grand am. I am losing brake fluid daily with no visual leaks. I suspect the master cylinder but it has abs and they don't recommend changing it yourself!! Help I have to do this work myself.........any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would make sure its not leaking in your rear wheels.
The rear wheel cylinders are good about leaking and you may not notice any puddles.

If its dry in back then its possible your fluid is leaking into the power brake booster. Could be from a bad master cyl, both are in a tight spot.

Thanks for the reply! We found a broken brake line above the gas tank. We replaced it but the abs light is still on so we are thinking it requires the tech 1 scan tool that we read about. We bled the lines using a power bleeder as well. Any other advise would be appreciated!

The power bleeder does help get the lines bled quick.

Have you tried disconnectiing the battery for a while ?
That might reset the light/code, though it would be nice to see what it is before reseting it.

Any ABS capable scan tool willread and reset the DTC just fine.

Believe it or not but we had it scanned at autozone and there are no trouble codes showing but the lights remain on even after dropping the battery! I think this car has gremlins :)

Autozones scan tools usualy dont read ABS codes. Some Advance auto or Oriely stores have ABS scanners but not all.
