Some Fords like my Explorer and Town car have premium sound which means there is a Amp or booster built into the system. Both plenty loud for an old guy half deaf from living through the heavy metal bands, the big hair bands, and loud nagging. Which was mainly the reason for playing the music loud to begin with. So I too like it and needed it loud.
I would call around the junk yards and see if they have something you can use.
Problem with a big box amp of today in an Explorer is room. Plus there is no place to hide it. Meaning you would always be one brick from a stolen amp and a lot of heartache.
Good luck

depends on what kind of loudness you want. Are you looking for normal speakers with some extra power? Do you want subwoofers? Either way your probably going to need an amp too. There are thousands of aftermarket car audio components out there. my advice would be to check ebay. find some stuff you like for a good price, write down what it is and research the reviews on it. good luck
