Happy Holidays To All...

I was poking around my engine today, just a little clean up and such, when I came across a connector that was not connected to anything, it's laying in top of the tranny's side cover, its snapped to the top cover bracket with one of those plastic clamps, its a two wire Black / White, Male

Does it belong to anything important, don't see any other stray's around ??

I have a few hanging around in my engine bay too. I'm assuming they're for accessories/mods since everything is working correctly.

Unless someone weighs-in with your year and model Grand Prix probably best to inspect other ones locally. It is not uncommon to have unused electrical connectors but I've never seen GM do that in this case. Maybe a connector for an engine block heater? For example the '97-'03 models have a fuel pump test connector that is not used for normal operation but it is located underneath the main engine compartment fuse box on the right side of the engine compartment.

Thanks for your input guys,

Looking at the diagram of the wiring harness I see that there is a black/white connector coming off the main harness that would connect to the VSS, but that is around back on the other side of the tranny, much farther than this one would even reach ???

One thing I noticed in your pics is that is in the area of the top of the rear of the autotransxle. I noticed there is no transmission range switch mounted like the previous generation.

The '97 - '03 Grand Prixs have it but I am not sure about '04 and up models. It is a component that has the neutral/park switch and gives the indication for the PRND321 indicator at the IP and lets the PCM module know what gear the car is in.

most of the '04+ models moved the neutral saftey switch to inside the transmssion.
