2001 ford explorer xlt 4x4 automatic
abs brakes kick in during normal stoping at low speed 10 mph or lower making it harder to stop no light but atctive codes are
c1155 lf speed sensor input ckt failure

c1233 wheel speed lf input signal missing

c1234 wheel speed rf input signal missing
anyone that can help me diagnosis it would be appreciated find it hard to belive both sensor are bad

Look for a broken wire to the speed sensor. They usually have a section of wire about 3 ft long with a plug. Unplug this with the tire jacked up remove the wheel. Look closely for something broken. The ring on the brake rotor broke on my son's explorer sport. Use an ohm meter preferably an old analog type. The gage should sweep as you rotate the wheel. This is hooked up to the plug. Advanced Auto had a brake rotor for around $45.00.

On the 4x4, the front wheel speed sensor resistance should be between 380 and 480 ohms. The rear wheel speed sensor resistance should be between 800 and 2500 ohms.

When using the voltmeter test that rhandwor suggests, have your meter set to the ACV setting. Backprobe the sensor wiring and, with the wheel spinning at a constant speed, you should register between 100 mVAC and 3.5 VAC.

On your 2001 4x4, I think you'll find that the tone ring is part of the axle shaft rather than mounted on the rotor.

I have this same problem on my 2001 Explorer Sport 4X4 4.0 Replaced both front ABS sensors with no change. No ABS light on consistantly, but when it does briefly come on the brake pedal is steady. If anyone has found a solution to to this problem, a little help would be greatly appriciated

Since you say you have the same problem, does that mean you also have verified you have diagnostic codes for the right front and left front inputs?

If you haven't had the ABS codes read, then your issue might be with the rear ABS sensor. The rear sensors are a pretty common issue with that generation of Explorer.

I had to find out the hard way, i replaced the front ABS sensors, Now the problem has progressed. I have a DMM so, im gonna rip the back tires off and see whats going on. 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 4X4 4.0 SOHC

The rear axle speed sensor is located on the axle at the differential. There's only one sensor for the rear.

my abs light has been on for quite a while now. ford wanted about 120 to fix it. I went to napa and bought the speed sensor for 23.00 bucks. it's located on the back axle on the top. It took about 5 minutes to change and the abs light is now off. Some say it can cause more problems if you don't fix it asap. It is an easy solution and cheap. Hope this helps

im going to get that mother, these brakes have been my nightmare for at least 2 years now.
