My Marquis vs a 2006(ish) Monte SS

So I was driving out to my dads house and got stopped at a light. There was a new V8 Monte SS in the lane next to me that was also at the light, but stopped past the stop line and my bumper was around his rear quarter panel. The light goes green and I hear him floor it through a non factory exhaust. I follow suit (though I feel he was doing it just for a fun run). Through first i pulled up to being even with him and by 65 barely inched him, at which point we both shut down due to possible cops. My best kill so far.

Nice run :)
He was probably having to fight against torque steer in those high HP/Torque FWD SS cars. Sounds good on paper, really doesn't work that well in the real world.

He may have been a not so great driver, or just had trouble with TS as mentioned by Stig. 0-60 for those is about 5.8-6.0 seconds, plus he had nearly a full car length on you to begin with. But whatever the reason, you won, and that's all that matters. Good kill. I would be more than happy with that.

Hmmm, I wonder what the torque steer is like on those cars. When done right, it can be minimized. It wasn't a hard launch for either of us. And him not being such a great driver wouldn't have much to do since neither of us launched hard and it was an auto.

Ive expierence my own share of torque steer, with some of it pretty nasty through R and D. Hopefully it will become a quicker sleeper once I am working again, stupid Chrysler layoffs.
