I got off the wife :worshippy In-Car Sportscar Experience DVD, the one with #22R on the cover. It shows, through the eyes of [mainly] Mclaren GTR's, on board laps around Silverstone, Jarama, Monza, Nurburgring, Spa and Anderstorp.

I am now trying to obtain more DVD's in the sales :)
So, did you get any F1-related presents?

I had hoped against hope that the McLaren that was sold at RMAuctions was secretly purchased by my wife as my Christmas dream gift.
http://www.zimbio.com/McLaren+Formula+1/articles/99/MCLAREN+F1+SELLS+LONDON+RECORD+HIGH+PRICE
The McLaren is always on the list, but since this is the 26th and there is not a McLaren sitting in my garage, that is was most likely someone else who bought it :crying: . She was probably not able to find a bank to rob that had that much money (they've all gone belly up). Oh well. I guess I'll have to wait impatiently until Minichamps builds the 1/12 McLaren. I suspect that it'll be out sometime early in 2011. As a matter of fact, I didn't even get the M3 that was on the list. Hmmm! and I thought she loved me.

I got a new calendar with images by Ron Kimball that includes this shot of XP4 and it includes a similar head-on shot of F50 GT #001 as well:

This is the caledar (http://tinyurl.com/79sk3t) if anyone is interested, but the Amazon price is much higher than the $12.99 listed on the back cover, so you may be able to find it cheaper some place else.
Also, after keeping it in an oversized poster tube for 5 years, I FINALLY got this professionally framed:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20B/i-1_B_L.jpg
The print is fairly large, at 34in x 30in and I went with no matte since it has a pretty wide area of white all around it, and chose a steel-blue frame made of metal. I'll snap some photos of mine when I hang it up.
For those not familiar, the print is signed by Peter Stevens, Gordon Murray & Colin Curwood and mine is #342/500. To say that I LOVE IT, would be understating my feelings for it. :grinyes:

No F1 related presents this year, from any of my relatives,.
But I did manage to buy myself a copy of this extremely rare video just before Xmas as a present to myself , after a very long nine year wait.
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2430/pc140003ud0.th.jpg (http://img341.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pc140003ud0.jpg)
All I can say after viewing the content is, its like a live version of Driving Ambition. Cannot see what all the fuss was about it being pulled though.
Something I will add, is that just over half of the video is McLarens own footage, very interesting unseen before coverage of development. Great hour long vid
Here are a few screengrabs,

And the second IXO Models 1/43 1996 Longtail GTR, Orange colored. Whit registerplate...... Street legal?
I think somebody mentioned that that was for show purposes, but I'm not positive.
It just occured to me, are there any street legal longtail GTR's?
I guess the '95-'96 would be more practical, but they did make 10 longtails.

But I did manage to buy myself a copy of this extremely rare video just before Xmas as a present to myself , after a very long nine year wait.

Thats a shame, imagine pulling up next to some guy with a riced honda and honking the horn three times. He'd probably crap himself.
Seriously though, that is a shame. It must be nice driving one of those (until you have to navigate a parking garage). I'm suprised nobody has done it yet, they've all been retired from racing.
There is also the bonus of not having to answer another thread about the differences between the LM's and the GTR's.

I waqs advised by Lanzante Racing that converting a longtail for road use would not really be practical due to the long front and rear overhangs and even less rearward visibility than the earlier GTR's, then of course there is the sequential gearbox, can be somewhat of a pain in traffic.

The guy I bought the models from wrapped them in a chinese newspaper that had some advertisements for...um...'videos' on it.
Just to warn you, if you buy a model from this guy don't open it in front of your kids (or wife).

Thanks for the link! But I might be late. As I wrote an another Thread, I suffered a computer failure, so one week went whit out it.
But anyway, I've finally got the "Sports car experience" DVD... And now watched it three four times. Just incredible! The quality is superp!! Really good! Many of those onboard vids was unknown for me.
Really really fantastic DVD, I just out of the words now. :runaround:
The best thing in it was many different onboard shots of F1's and the the big BMW V12 sound.... probably the best thing whole DVD......... WOH......:runaround: Can not find the words! :bloated:

Got the artwork today and it is definitely a crisp rendering of the photo. The red is a little deeper than on the website, but it's definitely a great shot. Now to get it framed. Looking back on the whole thing, I would recommend getting a little larger one. I opted for the small one and it may be the right size after I frame it. We'll see.
I searched for the thread on the new Minichamps 1/12 McLaren, but couldn't locate it so I am going to piggyback this into this tread. I just saw this on ebay and it would appear that it is the new edition of the model.

It has year of release listed as 2009. The place that I have been watching for the release has pushed it back consistently, but the date they are showing is the end of January. Maybe this is the real deal this time.:dunno:
I'm holding my breath this time. I still have that slot open in my display cabinet. With any luck, it'll get filled.

Sorry but it seems highly unlikely that vendors will be able to honor pre-release prices from almost 3 years ago. Not realistic.

Just checked gpl's site and they state the following:
"Price Guarantee - On all orders placed from 1st January 2009, if the manufacturer increases its price, we will charge the new RRP. Our guarantee not to increase prices on pre-order diecast was withdrawn on 31st December 2008. All orders placed before this date will still be honoured by the No Price Rise guarantee. You cannot add items to orders placed before 31st December 2008."
Pretty amazing if true! I think that they will be losing money on this one!

I've benefited from that rule before, but obviously its discontinued now.
However, unless the final retail price is £400 ($600) that eBay one is massively overpriced. Personally I can't see it being more than £300 ($435 ish) maybe £350 at a push.
