Battery Relocation Kits

I'm looking to move my battery to the trunk so I can have a little bit of easier access in my engine bay. I was looking at kits on eBay and they range in prices and sizes. Is there anything specific I should be looking for? And how hard is install? I just run the wire through the car to the main positive wires right?

I'm also going to be putting in a sub/amp so that should help with installing that too.

Some say that they're not NHRA/drag acceptable. Is this just for pro? If I goto the track with it, I should be fine as long as the battery is properly tied down correct? Thanks.

The NHRA is really anal about this type of thing. You will need to have a sealed battery box and and external cut off switch to be 'legal' there. Now I have never had an inspection for anything at my local drag strip. However when I autox they do inspect everything and I asked someone there and as long as the battery is held down securely then its not a problem. The battery can even be in a cheap plastic battery box from autozone. Then just run a 2ga cable to the front of the car with an inline fuse right off the battery. Runs some grounds and you should be fine.

I was planning on doing this but found a better solution Dave. Instead of mounting the battery in the truck just buy a smaller battery and move it to the frame rail. You will save some weight and space. Let me see if I can find a pic of it. You willl have to relocate your fuse box to behind the bumper which is not a big deal. I did mine in like an hour and didn't have to cut any wires.

All you need is a battery box, some 2ga or 4ga wire, a fuse for the power wire. Thats pretty much it, this is really not a hard thing to do. Just make sure your going to still be legal at your local track if you race. Most drag strips require external cut off switches and things like that.
