Hey all, regular here. '04 Malibu Maxx, have had it since new.

STRANGE thing happened to me this week (let me count the strange things - probably about 100+ with my '04 Maxx), still covered (thank God) under GMPP.

'Check Engine" idiot light appeared on my way home from work 2 days ago, and the Owner's Manual indicated that it's "OK" to drive it - probably a gas cap/fuel refill/emissions thing. Was due for an oil/filter change soon anyway, so I took it in yesterday to the dealer.

WRONG ASSUMPTION. The thermostat was nearly dead. Not something that, according to the OM, that the Check Engine light is designed to warn you of. Good thing I got it in when I did......

Merry XMAS to you all.....
