A Letter from Michael Moore to George W. Bush

Got this in an email. I don't necessarily agree on all the things said here, but I think it sums up the situation pretty well.
Still don't know how some of you can't see what an utterly awful president this man is... Or what an utterly awful man he is period.
The following is a letter Moore sent to Bush. It reflects the views of myself and many others. Michael Moore is the creator of Bowling for
Columbine, and the Awful Truth TV series among other things.

A Letter from Michael Moore to George W. Bush on the Eve of War
George W. Bush
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, DC
Dear Governor Bush:
So today is what you call "the moment of truth," the day that "France
and the rest of world have to show their cards on the table." I'm glad
to hear that this day has finally arrived. Because, I gotta tell ya,
having survived 440 days of your lying and conniving, I wasn't sure if I
could take much more. So I'm glad to hear that today is Truth Day,
'cause I got a few truths I would like to share with you:
1. There is virtually NO ONE in America (talk radio nutters and Fox News
aside) who is gung-ho to go to war. Trust me on this one. Walk out of
the White House and on to any street in America and try to find five
people who are PASSIONATE about wanting to kill Iraqis. YOU WON'T FIND THEM! Why? 'Cause NO Iraqis have ever come here and killed any of us! No Iraqi has even threatened to do that. You see, this is how we average Americans think: If a certain so-and-so is not perceived as a threat to our lives, then, believe it or not, we don't want to kill him! Funny how that works!
2. The majority of Americans -- the ones who never elected you -- are
not fooled by your weapons of mass distraction. We know what the real
issues are that affect our daily lives -- and none of them begin with I
or end in Q. Here's what threatens us: two and a half million jobs lost
since you took office, the stock market having become a cruel joke, no
one knowing if their retirement funds are going to be there, gas now
costs almost two dollars -- the list goes on and on. Bombing Iraq will
not make any of this go away. Only you need to go away for things to
improve.
3. As Bill Maher said last week, how bad do you have to suck to lose a
popularity contest with Saddam Hussein? The whole world is against you,
Mr. Bush. Count your fellow Americans among them.
4. The Pope has said this war is wrong, that it is a SIN. The Pope! But
even worse, the Dixie Chicks have now come out against you! How bad does it have to get before you realize that you are an army of one on this war? Of course, this is a war you personally won't have to fight. Just
like when you went AWOL while the poor were shipped to Vietnam in your place.
5. Of the 535 members of Congress, only ONE (Sen. Johnson of South
Dakota) has an enlisted son or daughter in the armed forces! If you
really want to stand up for America, please send your twin daughters
over to Kuwait right now and let them don their chemical warfare suits.
And let's see every member of Congress with a child of military age also
sacrifice their kids for this war effort. What's that you say? You don't
THINK so? Well, hey, guess what -- we don't think so either!
6. Finally, we love France. Yes, they have pulled some royal screw-ups.
Yes, some of them can be pretty damn annoying. But have you forgotten we wouldn't even have this country known as America if it weren't for the French? That it was their help in the Revolutionary War that won it for us? That our greatest thinkers and founding fathers -- Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, etc. -- spent many years in Paris where they refined the concepts that lead to our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution? That it was France who gave us our Statue of Liberty, a Frenchman who built the Chevrolet, and a pair of French brothers who invented the movies? And now they are doing what only a good friend can do -- tell you the truth about yourself, straight, no b.s. Quit pissing on the French and thank them for getting it right for once. You know, you really should have traveled more (like once) before you took over. Your ignorance of the world has not only made you look stupid, it has painted you into a corner you can't get out of.
Well, cheer up -- there IS good news. If you do go through with this
war, more than likely it will be over soon because I'm guessing there
aren't a lot of Iraqis willing to lay down their lives to protect Saddam
Hussein. After you "win" the war, you will enjoy a huge bump in the
popularity polls as everyone loves a winner -- and who doesn't like to
see a good ass-whoopin' every now and then (especially when it 's some
third world ass!). So try your best to ride this victory all the way to
next year's election. Of course, that's still a long ways away, so we'll
all get to have a good hardy-har-har while we watch the economy sink
even further down the toilet!
But, hey, who knows -- maybe you'll find Osama a few days before the
election! See, start thinking like THAT! Keep hope alive! Kill Iraqis --
they got our oil!!
Yours,
Michael Moore

Moore lives by me and by by me I mean a few miles. Ive run into him here protesting the war. Ive talked with him a year ago or so on different topics. I can say from personal experience that the man is a dunderhead. He is the reason why America is great. Even a simple minded moron like him can make it big.
This letter is a few days old and its full of shit. Of course nobody is gung-ho to kill Iraqis. Its disingenuous to claim that Bush or his office are. But my original point still stands. The guy truly is a simple minded moron.

He is but one man who voices his opinion. He is also wrong in most of his letter. Bush was elected by a majority and a year after it was proven again by a independent group. THe majority of Americans do support the war against iraq. Polls by various sources have proven that. Its amazing the lies some people will believe.

Michael Moore is great. He should be the President of the USA instead of Bush. I canīt understand why the USA, the so-called country of freedom, tolerance, democracy and whatever is attacking the Iraq. Donīt tell me Bush wants to free the poor and sufferring people, thatīs shit! He wants oil and he wants to have place controlled by the USA near Israel to protect these .
Donīt understand me wrong, I like Americans, but only those who are against this war.

I know a lot of people that are gung-ho towards beating the hell out of Iraq. Polls state that 98% on republicans and 50% of Democrats support Bush and the War. There have been Pro-War Protests here, but there has been no coverage of them by the local Liberal Party News Stations. When there was a walkout at school on Thursday, only the 40 students who were against the war got interviewed or even on TV. The rest of the 2000 students didn't even get on TV....I wonder.
Edit: and the Stock Market is already rising...

This guy is just another one of those famous assholes trying to use their name to draw attention to the anti-war front. Why does his opinion mean any more than mine? he is just one person.

I take it you don't pay attention to US politics very often... Michael Moore is not another celebrity, he's a long time political commentator, and a brutally honest one at that.
Bush was not elected by the majority, and it's ridiculous to say that he was. The majority did not even vote. Do you mean the majority of voters? Well that's ridiculous as well, because Al Gore won the popular vote by the numbers, but Bush won the seats, and the supreme court decision, largely made by Republican aligned judges, many of whom were instated by Bush Sr.

I think you summed it up pretty well. Welcome to the political forum, and please stick around. We need more people who haven't been raised on US propaganda from birth :)

Are you people still crying about hte election? Bush also had to get through the LIBERAL circuit judges in Flori-DUH. It just shows the kind of dumbasses voting for Gore. They can't even vote right. Now, Gore couldn't even win his own state, Tennnessee(GO TENNESSEE!), which shows the extent of the trust people in America had for him. Oh and another thing.................GORE WAS A FUCKING SOCIALIST.

Oh, so we shouldn't free the poor and suffering people? You are brainwashed, my friend, on a socialist propaganda machine that countries like France, Germany, Belgium, and Russia just feed fuel to.
And what do you have against Jews?
So, because we are a free and "tolerant" country we are supposed to tolerate a genocidal dictator who's next rocket could have been shot right at us?
Until all you guys have lived in America, don't speak of what it is like to. You all want to act like we are a country who never gets attacked, always does everything wrong, and is ignorant of the other countries in the world. Yeah, we're real ignorant of other countries. Especially considering we are the most diverse country in the world.
We spend more time on foreign affairs than any other country in the world because we actually care.
Wanna talk reasons for war? How about to stop another asshole with a mustache from genocide(hmmm....sounds familiar) on his own people and a direct threat to many countries around him. War for oil? If we wanted oil, we would have stayed out and bought it from them, or we could have just stayed in Iraq in 1991. And if you haven't noticed, THE DAMN OIL WELLS ARE ON FIRE!!!!!

You are right in one point: The poor and suffering Iraqi people should be freed, but not with a war. They suffer under Hussein and now they suffer from the US-bombs. The American soldiers are so great, why donīt you send some SEALs and kill only Hussein, that would be perfect.
I am brainwashed? I think itīs you whoīs brainwashed here. I am able to make my own decisions and I donīt follow my president like a lemming. if George Bush says "Jump down from the Golden Gate!", would you do it?
Well, the jews. No comment to them from me, you will call me Nazi (what I am NOT!).
And yes, Bush wants the oil. There are hundreds of oil wells in the Iraq and only a few are on fire.

How do we get rid of Saddam without forcing him to leave? Answer that, because nobody else in the world can.
And also, how do you know that civilians have been killed. I'd be willing to bet that more American soldiers have died in helicopter crashes so far than civilians have been killed. Why don't you get me a number? Oh wait, you don't habe one. You just automatically assume that a gazillion people are going to die at our hands. Not true.

I don't think that Bush is after the oil. We have a lot of oil reserves here in the US, along with a lot of oil we have yet to drill for. I don't think we need their oil. But then, I am an American. I am going to believe what our nation's leaders tell us until I see otherwise. Miltary targets are being hit in Bagdad. I don't think some of you realize how HUGE that city is. We aren't there to destroy, but to liberate.
The civilian casualty count (as I have heard) is 0. In the opening attackes of Operation Shock and Awe, somewhere around 13 civilians were injured, but none killed. We are using our most sophistocated weapons to hit only what we want to. The only reason that civilians were hurt is because their own leader placed them in harm's way. The same leader has ordered fatal experiments to be preformed on his own people. He's just as bad as Hitler, if not worse. We shouldn't be there today...That is true, but only becuase if we had taken the bastard out in the first place, we wouldn't be worrying about him right now.
When we leave Iraq, we'll see if we keep control of the oil.

If I write a letter to Bush, will one of you guys post it for me. But mine will be supporting bush and the troops, because I love my country and dont second guess what the president does. If you got a problem with the president then voice it at election time and make sure you vote. If you are from another country, then worry about your own country and not ours.

No kidding, these people don't know the difference b/w their ass and their head. There's only a hand full of celebrities that are smart enough to realize whats going on and support the President. To name a few, Chris Rock, Bruce Willis, and Dennis Miller. Dennis Miller was of course on Bill O'Reiley's show on Fox News. It's really nice to see some intelligent people in Hollywood. If anyone once the truth in anything watch The O'Reiley Factor. I'm down for you posting your letter dolla_bill0913, I'd love to read it, and I'm sure the Pres. would like to see your letter of support. :finger: Saddam:flipa: :eshooter:

I have met that "faggot" here. He lives a few miles away from me (in Traverse City). I can tell you that he is not gay. He is however a very stupid man. He is the reason why this country is great. Even a total moron like him can make a good life for himself.

Not true.
I think youīve watched CNN or something like that in the last days and now it is proven that civilians were killed. I also heard that a simple farmer "killed" an Apache helicopter. But I think that is just propaganda of the Iraqis.

This is called war, civilians will die. Sattan Hussein has probably killed more of his own people already than those that will die in this war.

Did anyone see Leno last night? He had two people(dont remember their names) on there that were talking about his disrepectful comments he made at the Oscars. Michael Moore claims there were only "5" loud booers. The 2 guys on Leno stated that he had a standing ovation until he started speaking and quickly people retook their seats. Seeing the replay of the video there looked to be a lot of jaw dropped hollywood celebs. He goes on to say that b/w the mixture of boos and applause, the majority were boos. It wouldn't surprise me if the IRS showed up at his door for an audit...hehe, that would be funny.

I don't believe a single word that comes out of Bush's mouth. I'm sure that his hidden agenda is to win one back for his old man who was made to look a fool in the last Gulf War. Remember too that it was the US along with the UK that sold a shit load of weapons to Iraq in the first place. Add to that that Saddam was put in power by the US coz they didn't wan't the Iranians in power as they feared them more.
I'll tell you why the US and UK know Iraq have weapons of mass destruction, coz they checked the receipts!!!

Yeah, respect the guy that won an Oscar for a documentary that was 75% made-up and not accurate. Give the liar some respect. He had his 15 seconds of fame, and he managed to lose the respect of some of his peers, and now almost all of America thinks he is an ass. Give him respect, however, because he can down 30 pieces of pizza in 10 minutes.

I don't have a problem with the fact that he doesn't agree with me. It is the way he bashed our president I have a problem with. Our country doesn't need that crap, especially in a time of war. No wonder the Oscars were the least-viewed in the history of the event.
Now, the documentary he wrote("Bowling For Columbine") wasn't really a documentary. He took a basis of facts and added on to, or edited it, so as to make a good storyline. In the end, over 3/4 of the story turned out to be made up. It was not a very accurate depiction at all of what really goes on.
That guy thinks he has balls to stand up there and say that, but really in all reality, it was cowardice, as was the comments made by Robert Bird and Tom Daschle.
This movie, also, was basically a platform for the stance of all the liberal wackos on gun rights. Micheal Moore, my friends, is as liberal as they come, and in my opinion as anti-American as they come.

I have to agree with Pick in that our country doesn't need this crap in time of war. You can sit there and disagree with the war all you want, but it's still happening, and is going to happen, so you might as well do what you can, and support our president as to make this bad thing end faster. You don't even necessarily have to support the president or the war, you can just keep your mouth shut for the time being.
I think Michael Moore needs to get his facts straight on gun control also. Gun control is not eliminating guns, gun control is controlling your guns. Pay attention to what your kids are doing and they wont shoot eachother.
Without causing any sort of flame, or offending people, I think Moore is a little closed minded.

'this bad thing' as you call it should never have started.I totally disagree with the idea that you should keep quiet if you disagree with your government, that sounds too much like advice for Iraqis to me.One of the most powerful parts of the U.S. constitution is the right to free speech. If you disagree with something, you have a right to stand up and say so.If you disagree with something as immoral, opportunistic and evil as this war,it is your duty to stand up and be counted. If a few more Germans had stood up in the late 1930's and said,"Mr Hitler, what you are doing in our name is unacceptable",then just maybe we could have avoided World War Two.

Thanks for twisting my words around, or misunderstanding them. What I meant to say was that it's a waste of time to protest the war. It's happening. I never said that you should keep quiet if you disagree with your government, so thank you for making that assumption. I said that in time of war, maybe you should try and help it end instead of bitching about it. If you have a broken pipe in your yard, sitting there and protesting the ground isn't going to dig the hole and patch the pipe. Pick up a shovel, or get out of the way so someone else can fix it because the pipe already has a hole in it and what caused it doesn't matter anymore.
You can sit there and say this war should have never started, fine, point your finger.. but what does that solve? Also, Mr. Taranaki, I'm sure that if our goverment was commiting genocide, it WOULD be overthrown. Thanks for comparing the US goverment to Nazi Germany.
And Jimster, the difference is that Bush aknowledges the right of free speech, no matter how wacko left or wacko right it might be.

It seems only the mostly the non-americans of AF dont understand the Bush argument for war...
Then again a number of Americans are against war...

The thing is just because you are using your right for free speech, that doesn't mean that you aren't being anti-American or Anti-Bush. Too many people think just because they have a right to free speech they can say whatever they want, and that what they are saying automatically qualifies them as pro-America.
You can call someone a queer to their face, but that doesn't mean they won't hit you in the face.
