I have a 99 malibu with the 3.1 and it will die while driving or parked. The only thing I notice is that the gauges all move up and down like the key is getting turned off and on again. There are no codes or consitantincy when this happens. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Probably need to check your alternator to see if its good or not.

I think I might be a ignition switch, because all the gauges move like the ignition was turned off and on again. Has anybody heard of this happening to them?

I have heard of ignition switches causeing that kind of a problem before. What I would do is check power and ground going to the ignition swich and wiggle some wires while checking, also check power and ground output from ignition switch while wiggling some wires. I'd hate to see someone buy a part because of a loose wire.

I replaced the CKPS and it still dies. I replaced the ignition control module and it still dies. I have now replaced the ignition switch and so far so good. I will keep everyone updated.
