Love this game! Any other fans?
Do you play strictly by the book? Do you leave out all the auctions?
What "house rules" do you play with?
Do you have a favorite token?
Anyone ever play with the "Stock Market" expansion set?
If you'd like to try some variations on the rules, check these out:

i used to play this alot with my family as a kid, back when everyone was still around. It was a given that my brother would by the orange properties and beat everyone else.
As for house rules, we used the 'free parking gives you the money in the middle' rule, where the money in the middle is the money paid by players for taxes and community chest/chance cards

I also love this game. Have had the board game since birth and the hasbro computer one (which is excellent) for 18 months. My usual house rules are:
-Double money for landing on Go
-Start money = $3k
-Free Parking rule

The first day the Euro was out, some places got confused and actually DID accept Monopoly money as legal tender.
As for Monopoly, I have 2 sets of it, both variations on the Millennium edition. One has translucent money, very cool.
If anyone shows up this way, I'll challenge you to a game. Oh, and I play "by the book". (I have a Monopoly History book also.)

I need to start using the auction rules... :o
I just finished a game with my wife. We ended it for time, and she won $19,003 to 14,017. :p
And IMO, the red group > *.

And yes, I love this game. Me and my friends use a lot of different rules, depending on how many people are playing.

Tangie is rather anti-board games b/c they bore me, but hey, to each their own.
The last time I played was a good 3 years ago, and we played "corrupt Monopoly" where we could cut deals with other property owners privately so we wouldn't have to pay when landing on eachother's property and the like. We could also barter and other craziness. I think everyone but one guy ended up completely bankrupt by the end of the game. I think his name was Bill Gates or something. :p

Oz, can you play yours online?

And yes, according to the book, the red group has the highest chances of being landed on, and as such has highest payout rates.

Yep you can. But I've never found anyone because you need to type their IP address, no centralised server. Also, it's pretty old - 99 I think. If you get it, I'd be happy to play you. :)

It's a long shot, but I used to have a Mac copy of Monopoly at my parents' house. Maybe it also had the PC version on the disks... :thinkerg:
