01' grand am 4 cyl. oil leak

the wifes car, a 2001 grand am se with the 4 cylinder, said she pulled into the mothers garage and heard a pop sound, didn't think much of it till she got back into the car and went down the road a piece, the oil light and dinger went off, so she calls me and i said put some oil in it, ya sure , so she took it to sears auto, when i got there the tech showed me the oil all over the inside of the engine compartment,mainly in the center of the engine where the trans and engine meet up, i could not see where it was coming from nor the tech, is ther a sending unit in that area? or is it the head gasket, oh it is 16 below zero here in illinois today, any help would be greatly appreciated,

Could be the rear main seal that blew out?

it was the oil presure sending unit, that poped! $107.00 part and labor, at firestone,

Sounds like you got lucky with it just being a sending unit. :thumbsup:

Yeah if it was the rear main seal it wouldnt throw it up on top of the motor, just runs/blows everywhere underneath the car.
