When you mount the turbo, you position it so that the oil return is as close to being parallel to gravity as you can get it... IOW, point it at the ground, even if you have to turn the cartridge to get it there.

IIRC, you can put the oil return anywhere that it won't directly feed into the oil sump in the pan, so that it has some time to cool before being fed back into the engine.

Again, IIRC, the front side of the oil pan, (obviously), about 13mm from the top, so that it's above the oil fill level, and not draining directly onto the sump.

Oil returns are gravity fed and if the oil backs up its going to come out the seals. With that said, mount the fitting as close to the top lip of the oil pan.

It is best to position the fitting to allow for the return line to not have any bends, or kinks.

Is it really OK to have a solid copper line like that? For a DD or street car, I mean. I've always been told to use a flexible line...

It's not my setup, nor do I care whose it is. We are discussing the tapped fitting, which this image shows a good spot.

One would think you would want some amount of flex, but apparently this person wanted to re-invent the wheel.

that helps out quite a bit actually. the only thing holding me back from turboing my civic is various fabrication jobs.

I would say the most technical fab work, would be the intercooler piping. Other than than, most work can be done fairly easy, if you are somewhat mechanically inclined.

well the intercoor piping is a prefab kit all ready for a greddy style bov. but the down pipe and waste gate return and such are kinda what slows me down i dont have a full knowledge and im not a fabricator.

Only thing keeping me out of boost is money.. and not much of it even.
