Does anyone know if it would be easy to swap out my 1999 mercury 4.6 for a 2007 ford police interceptor motor...would this be a pain in the ass or would it be fairly easy to do? Thanks in advance!!

This would be a complete pain in the ass. The reason for this is the 2005+ panthers are electronic throttle control, along with a return-less style fuel system and the ignition is coil on plug (yours may be, I don't know). You do have options for improving the performance of your vehicle. Do you have a budget or goals for your vehicle?

Check with a machine shop if you can change the intake and use your existing controls. If you buy a wrecked police car and have all electrical parts it can be done. The complete wiring harness will have to be changed plus computer.

But there are easier and cheaper ways to get the hp difference between the two with out swapping the engine and electronics, which is why I asked him what his budget is along with his goals.

Opps, I misread your post and it wont let me edit it. Sorry about sounding a bit harsh.

I assumed with a 1999 motor in his vehicle he needs a new engine but I'm not sure.

I dont really have a budget i guess...i cracked a head in my 99 motor(110k miles on it) so i found a 2007 cvpi motor(29k miles-detective car not patrol) for 750 bucks with a waranty from my good friend. The 07 motor got stabbed in tonight...i spoke with some ford techs on the phone and the two that are working on mine at my house dont think there will be any problems with the computers...we did use my intake manifold, my fuel rail, my ac compressor and power steering pump, used newer injector clips on my wiring harness, flywheel out of the 99, the throttle body off of the 99, and the exhaust manifolds off of the 99...it will get finished tomorrow barring any catastrophe...any input is greatly appreciated

Sounds like its going good so far. Sounds like the problem areas are taken care of. I would also make sure that you check the A/F ratio before driving the car too hard as the 07 does have different heads and cams compared to your 99 motor.
