hey there, 2000 Grand Am GT here. I'm almost positive my 3400 engine layout is identical to your's. The thermostat is located in the thermostat housing. It located beneath the throttle body/plate. Also, look for the main large radiator hose on the right side; this also feeds into the portion of the thermostat housing. Have fun trying to get at it, I wanted to change mine myself, but the damn exhaust is so close to it, I couldn't get any sockets and/or wrenches in there to get the bolts off. If you decide you want to go for it, lemme know and I'll give you more details on what you can remove to try to get at it better. Hi I am having the same problem trying to get the thermostat out of my daughters grand am any easy way to do it would be greatly appreciated.
