my son has a 97 grand prix GT. he says the rear pass. side caliper blew out and theres brake fluid all over the rotor. would it be wise to just change that caliper only or will the braking be uneven if we don't change both sides?

he's only 18 so i'm trusting his judement, lol.

any help is appreciated.

Welcome to AF

Since the caliper blew out, most likely new rear pads and rotors will be needed also. Since you should always replace brake pads in axle sets, inspect the other side caliper when changing the brakes. If it looks suspicious at all (any leaking, galled threads, etc) change them both.

thanks for the input. i was wantin to get out as cheap as possible but brakes are nothing to play with.

the other side was makin a scrapin sound so i guess i should probly go with rotors, pads and calipers.

i just didn't know a 97 grand prix parts were so expensive, lol. i'm used to 80 sumthin chevy and ford parts.
