Headlights...and HIDs

I just noticed somthing from this picture off of Mclaren's website http://www.mclarenautomotive.com/features/wallpaper/mclaren-1-1024.jpg this f1 has been retrofited with HIDs for the smaller light....do we know how many and if any other have had this modification? Also what are the sizes of the two headlights...it likes like a 7" and a 4" to me, but does anyone know for sure?

There are several F1s that have received an HID upgrade, and even one F1 that has totally unique headlights. I know we have discussed both in the past - I will try to find the old thread and probably add your post to it if appropriate.

The first one I saw was 042 in the Dec. 97 issue of Road & Track, where they showed a small pict with the square headlights and ungainly bumper needed to get the car certified. When 038 appeared on the cover of R&T a couple years later, I noticed that it had HIDs; the low-beams are noticeably smaller when compared to front shots of F1s in DA. Also, I noticed that the car in the Elite picts had square headlights, but I don't think it was mentioned in the thread.

If I were ever fortunate to own an F1, I'd like mine to have the HID lights :) [amonst other upgrades ;)]
