My vtec is not working and I do not know why...can someone help me...I swapped a b16a2 and the vtec was working, but now it just stopped for no reason and it pisses me off! I check the plug and cleaned it out and it worked for a few days and the stopped again...I am not sure what the fuck it is! Can I have someone expertise?
Thanx

Are you getting CEL code,if so have you pulled the code,if so is it 21?

Disconnet the plug from the solenoid and check it with a multi meter it should read between 14-30 ohms, when you look into the plug, your going to see to prods the small one is the one you check. You can road test it also, accelerate in 1st gear to a engine speed of over 6000 rpms, hold for a least two seconds,if you don't get a CEL do it two more times,if your vtec isn't coming on and your not getting a CEL then check your solenoid as above and you also have a loose wire or intermittent failure somewhere else in the system.Remember, your car has to be at operating temp for your vtec to work,so before doing the test, drive around for a bit.

CEL's are when your check engine light comes on in the dash. If you want to check the code you have 2 options, 1.) go to autozone, they'll do it for free, or 2.) if it's obd2 you can jumper it with a paper clip and read it that way (look this tactic up on google, I can't explain it, but it's very easy).

Jump the 2P Service Check Connector located behind the right kick panel you can read the DTC with a Honda PGM tester, OBD-II scan tool or by watching the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL), commonly referred to as the Check Engine Light (CEL). The MIL will flash a number of long flashes equal to the tens place of the DTC, then a number of short flashes equal to the ones place in the DTC.
For example, eight long flashes and six short flashes equals 86.
To clear up any confusion: Code 01 is equal to one short flash, Code 10 is equal to one long

Hey could there be a problem if my O2 censor is not hooked up.....my check engine light is always on so I don't know if I am getting a cel!

That's why you need to pull the codes,You get a steady CEL till you jump it and then it will tell you what all is wrong.

I'm going to put money on it being that you are running a GSR ECU that is looking for a IAB signal that it isn't getting from the B16A2.Also if your o2 isn't hooked up that will do it also.

what the fuck is an IAB signal?

GSR engines have a set of secondary Intake Air Bypass butterflies that are activated at high RPMs to let in more air.GSR ECU's look for this signal from the IAB solenoid. If your running that ECU and it hasn't been chipped to bypass that function,it is still looking for that signal and is going to throw a CEL.

I pulled the codes and the only one it is throwing is 01, that is the 02 sensor right? Don't what is going on!?

my vtec was messin up and cuttin in and out and it was right after my motor mount installation. i remember i was jackin up the oil pan and it came to 0 clearence between the pan and the pick up screen. all i had to do was bang out the dent with a piece of wood and a hammer but if you bottomed out real hard or somthing check that the oil pan and pick up screen are really close.

i didnt think the ecu would allow vtec when it is in limp mode. why arent you running with an o2 sensor in the first place? which ecu are you running?

I am running without a o2 sensor because the sensor wires were too short to plug in and I am running a '97 gsr ecu!
