Hello im Diabolus..new to this forum and im hoping u can help me. My problem with the 89 bonneville sse i just bought is that after i start the engine i have to hold down the gas and keep the rpms above 1000 or my engine will die.
Please note that this does not happen all the time (i can sometimes let it idle by itself but it does die soon after). Is there a way i can tweak the idle? or do you think it may be some kind of fuel pump and/or filter problem.
On a slighty related note...everytime i have the cd player going and i hit the headlight switch..engine stalls. really frikin wierd.

I would suggest you should scan for stored trouble codes first (you can do this yourself without a scan tool).
Otherwise, I think it may be the IAC (idle air control circuit) needs cleaning. Possibly a sticking EGR can cause this or a bad throttle position sensor.
