my 2000 isuzu rodeo is still having problems! it seems that the spark plugs on the drivers side bank are firing on the down stroke? they plugs foul out but when i test them to see iif they were firing i got a nice blue spark. the truck idles well but has hesitation and almost no power. you can pull all three coil feed wires on the driver side and this will cause no change in idle or performance, but if you pull one coil on the passenger side the engine will die. i have been having this problem for quite some time now and no one seems to have an answer. please help! i also get no codes from the computer unless i pull one of the coils. then i get p0300 random missfire.

What i have done so far:
new set of heads
new top gasket set
new spark plugs
new timing belt
new computer
checked timing about three times
checked cam timing in the heads
checked cat. converters
flushed engine
checked spark
cleaned egr
cleaned pcv
new img (intake manifold gasket)

  Maybe the cam spocket turned while you were installing the timing belt so that side is out of time?  Andie

Did you get your problem fixed? Was this after you changed a timing belt? I know that when I was changing the timing belt on my v6 99 Rodeo the repair manual I used was wrong. It said that both passenger and driver side camshaft sprockets would "spring" into their proper position and the marks would line up correctly. This is untrue of the driver side one. I put the belt on 3 times and could not get it to run correctly. On the 4th try I let the driver's side camshaft sprocket "spring" into about the 10 o'clock position and then I turned it clockwise by hand and lined up the marks. It started right up after that and has ran fine since. Any questions just send me a messsage.

hey i appreciate the advice.. i am going to go home and give this a try because i believe it is the same engine as the 99 and i also had the manual and tried out the timing by myself and my manual says the same thing about both "spring"ing into place so i will give this a shot! i had almost given up on answers......:)

I hope this works for you.....I would almost bet money on it. It sounds like your timing is off. Any questions just send me an email at:

what kid of spark pugs are you using?
when i changed my spark plus it was shooting the P0300 code, something about the ionic sensor it only likes DENSO factory plugs(correct me if im wrong) and then i went and changed the number 6 ing coil and it solved the problem, mind you that i had other problems during that ,TPS,ECM wiring

but i check all the wiring and fixed all the codes just cause there is no isuzu dealership nowhere near me so y pay some jack ass to fix nothing ,put a little time and effort and you'll be able to solve it.

this forum help me alot in doing that.
