I'm a regular contributor in the Pontiac Montana and Saturn L-series forum. This is my first time here in Cavalierland.
I am considering the purchase of a 2001 Cavalier LS.
Every car seems to have its well-known problem(s). For example, our Montana's engine was infamous for a failed intake manifold gasket. My L300 chews through tires no matter how it's aligned. (The L300 also has a tendency to fry the BCM, but I haven't had that problem...yet.)
Anyway, when I look at this Cavalier, what should I be watching out for?
I scanned through several pages of the Cavalier forum, but I didn't notice any recurring problem.
Any advice?
Forgot to mention that this has the 2.2 engine and it is an automatic.

strut mounts like to go... wheel bearings never had a rear seal installed.... headlight harness like to corrode and malfunction.... fuel filter design is a bitch.....
the 2.2's are slow as balls and have a problem with noisy valve shatter when cold like the VW's...
Keep on the upkeep and it will last you a while.

Been doing some asking around, what about brakes and O2 sensors? That's what someone told me today...that they chew through brakes like crazy and "pop" oxygen sensors.
Any truth to that?
As far as the wheel bearing thing...are you saying they weren't DESIGNED with rear seals or are you saying that it was common that they just weren't installed?

make sure the heater is working, as the heater cores are notorious to leak and most just bypass this, heater cores are not much, getting to it is another story
i owned a 95 cavalier with fuel pump issues tho i never read this to be an issue, only heater cores, as was the only issue i had with the 95 cav
