2wd to 4wd??

i got a 1997 chev 1500 350 5.7L ext cab (2wd) and i was wounderin before i got to deep into it... i found a gmc 4wd long box ext cab....not sure what year i saw it from a glance... it had the maroon dash so it was a lil older... i 1 wanna know if i can do a swap for the rear end....i proble will have to switch the yokes on the diffi... and when i mean swap im thinkin whole thing... leafs and alll... but just the diff would work to... 2 is if i can convert the rest to 4wd.... or would it be way too complicated and that i should just go buy a half descend used 4x4 and drive it instead.... im mostly into the rear end idea

a lot of modification is involved along with having to purchase or find transmission with transfer case and front drive gear along with front cvs

sure you can do it, how much you wanna spend?

for the work and cost involved you're better off just buying a 4x4.

unless you're building a serious mud or trail truck with a custom chassis anyway then i would imagine a parts truck is all you really need.
