my front axle on my 1976 ford f150 is pointing upward at the cab. is it made like that or is there something wrong?:headshake

Truck has twin I beam suspension. Nothing is wrong.

thanks just got a little worried, thought it was upward to much for a front drive line since i have a lift on the truck.

Can you post a picture? Did you buy the truck this way? Sometimes, especially on older trucks, some people made home-made lifts that may not be safe.

The twin-I-beam front end on yours often requires dropped beam brackets to work safely when lifted. If someone just installed longer springs, it may not be completely safe.

did you take it to get alighment set after you put lift kit on it? has the king pins have play in them? and if you put bigger springs on that if so thats not good. i would take it to a good alighment man and see what he sais.those springs could pop right out while going down road. how did yo lift the back and is it leval with front? if not you can go to ways like i did i put 160lbs air shocks on the back. i'm not saying it's right but i never had any problems when i owned a 76 150 with 300 six cyl. but again take it to a well known alighnment man just to be safe.

this how i bought the truck dont know how they lifted. and the guy i bought it from said he didnt know what the guy did when he bought it.

Okay, those pics make a HUGE difference. That is not a twin - I beam front end (which is a kind of independent front suspension). It looks like a very straightforward solid front axle, and has none of the twin I bean lifting issues.

Ford used both systems in their 4wd trucks for many years.

I would say it's not the axle that's the concern, but the pinion shaft,(where the front driveshaft should attach), correct?

That angle was done to reduce the risk of the front driveshaft binding, with the lift that you have. So long as the front driveshaft turns freely, you should not have a problem for low-speed 4wd driving.

High speed, highway driving in 4wd may produce some harmful vibration from the front shaft, due to incorrect U-joint phasing. However, most old, part-time 4wd systems were not built for highway use. So I suggest use 2wd only for higher speed driving.
