:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: DAMN What the hell i get a new engine and it doesn't even run. Ok i think it's fuel related. Not electric because it will be driving it will sputter and shut off for a split second and come back on. No Check Engine Light while driving whatsoever just a quick jerk then pops back on. Shut it off and all hell breaks loose. It doesn't start back up for nothing. You turn the key, and the engine is shaking like it wants to come on but just not getting there If it idles it will start high go below 1,000RPM and sputter then eventually shut off. The everygauge reads fine not running hot or anything. Mabey Fuel Filter or a Fuel Pump, God i prey it's it' not a fuel pump i only have 189 in the bank. As i write this my baby sitting in the freezing cold at my work by herself:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: .

Have you checked your plugs condition when it does the hard re-start ?
Are they wet, (fuel),? Carboned up?

You said it is a new engine who did the install ?

Have you re-checked all electrical connectors, vacuum hoses, etc. ?

Is there a schrader valve on the fuel rail so you can test fuel pressure ?

Check the ecu

2nd stealthee's suggestion.

isn't your motor jdm? wouldn't they require a different ecu?

I told you in the other thread to check the ecu, especially since it is a first gen and they are notorious for having leaking caps. Take a look at your other thread and you will see the picture I posted and how to check it.

And no, he doesn't need a different ECU for a JDM 6G72.

Why would they require a different ECU when the engines are identical?

I just got a call back and the said it's a bad ECM the labor is 200 dollars the part from a dealer is 1,400 dollars. i was listening to you SL3000GT thats why i put it in a shop to scan for codes. But a question is a ECU and ECM the same thing and how much is a ECM used/new.

HOLY SHIT! $200 for labor!? It's like a 10-15 minute job maybe! You can get reuilt ECU's between $250-300, sometimes less. Check out AvPro as they also come with a lifetime warranty. Ebay also has some reuilt 3/S ecu's. Make sure you get one that is for a first generation 3000gt/Stealth and that it is not from a twin turbo. You shouldn't spend more than $300 on this. Honestly, installing it is the easiest install ever...check out this link for more info on uninstalling/installing the ecu/ecm:

http://www.stealth316.com/2-ecmremoval.htm

You can also find places that you send your ECU to them and they send you a rebuilt ECU for less. And yes, an ECU is the same thing as an ECM.

I knew something was wrong with this estimate when you showed me the picture earlier i was like damn thats easy to get to. yeah thanks to your link i can now get this damn thing back on the road hopefully. I fucking hate these guys know 200 dollars i thought i was doing good, until i asked you guys. Once i heard him say 1,400 dollars for a ECM i was like:rofl:   . But yeah i knew the internet was good for something else besides floggin the dolphin:grinyes: :grinyes: :grinyes:

the ecu job take's 5mins to instal. then according to the guy i went to, the car should be left sitting, then idle for a few minutes.

as for his vs. our ecu's, eh, didn't know if anything was different

Theres no need to let it sit for a few minutes.

Once the ECU is in it isnt going to do anything until the car is started.

Then yes you should let it idle a few minutes but then take it fr a ride. The idle is still going to be funky until the ECU relearns all the parameters.

^QFT.

I let mine sit for about 5-10 minutes at idle before I took it out for a drive. Didn't take long for it to come back to normal. Just a side note; My SL does have a motor from Japan but is still running an ECU off of a US spec 3/S.
