I need to change a bulb for the Third Brake Light. How do I gain access to the Bulbs? I have read several threads stating the rear seat has to be removed. Is this true? I can't believe they designed it so you have to remove the rear seat and package tray to change the Third Brake Light.
Can anyone confirm?

if u have a 97-03 grand prix then im like 95% sure u have to do so. u MIGHT be able to get at it thru the trunk but i doubt it. ive never had to do it although i looked over it briefly. removing the back seats and rear deck isnt too hard. first pull the tabs under the bottom half of the seat, then pull the cushion up and off. next unbolt the seatbelts and seat anchors. i believe there are 4 nuts that need to be removed. once removed lift the seat UP and then pull. the rear deck is removed by removing a few plastic clips with either a panel remover or just a screwdriver or something. u should be able to just work the deck off by pulling carefully. reinstalling everything is the tricky part. if u decide to do all this let me know. the when putting the seat back in u must make sure u get the anchors on the back into their slots. it can be tricky..

Luckily I found the owners manual. It states that you can access the Bulbs from inside the Trunk underneath the package tray. I had a hard time believing they would have made it that hard to service a Brake Bulb.
