Winter mode question

We got snow and ice yesterday here yesterday. I went to use the winter mode. It started in 3rd gear from a dead stop but it cut out at some point during my 4 mile drive home. Is this normal?

I had tried it out awhile back in nice weather but I don't remember this happening. I'm sure I didn't leave it on for a long time when I tested it though. Does it automatically turn off if I hit 4th gear or some RPM/MPH threshold?

Yes, it automatically shuts off at around 35mph, it's ONLY purpose is to get you moving from a dead stop so you don't slide around on ice, sand, mud, etc.

Really...that early huh?

I've honestly only ever used it twice in 12yrs, I forget it's there sometimes.

Yeah, it does shut off at a certain speed. Only meant to be used as needed. I've never used mine as I use the 4 wheel drive in the slippery stuff and have never had a problem getting going.

I tell ya, I don't have 4-wheel drive, the winter mode sure came in handy when I buried the front end in sand while living in the desert. Worked really good.

I've only used it once on ice I think, this truck actually does superb in snow with good A/T tires anyways.
