There is no "cheep" power for a CX civic. Beyond getting the standard upgrades, header, exhaust, etc.. you're gonna have to do some engine work, which REALLY ain't cheap. If you're looking for a serious boost in power and you have the money, go for a swap or a supercharger/turbo. A Jackson supercharger will give you a nice bolt-on 40-50hp for around $2500.

Ok ima tell you straight up.....why......because i just bought a 92 civic hatch cx about 2 months ago...... no matter what you do to this engine its definetly not worth it......intake, headers, exhaust, cams, gears, pulleys, none of that will help this engine.......Trust me the engine i belive is close to 80HP......I hate it man trust me i have people pull up next to me all the time wanting to race and it sucks because right now this cx motor would probably run a 22 second 1/4 mile......there will be no way to pick up speed on the freeway no matter what you do....I did the smart thing and bought a b16 dohc vtec two weeks after getting the car.....because the car has NO BALLS......i get my ass handed to me by Grandmas driving older cars and not even trying to race......My friend beat my car by like 2 or 3 car lengths and his best run at Racetrack was 17.8 @ 79mph man its ridiculous......The best thing for you to do is save up or invest into a engine.....what I did was drop 400$ a week at a car place until i payed off the engine and with the first payment they got it shipped there!! so theres stuff u can do but not with that engine....I mean u dont have to get a b16 u could even get a ls motor.....my boys 94 cx has a ls motor in there and he ran 15.1 with it with just intake, so its pretty dam quick and those motors arent nearly as expensive.....so ima tell u straight up.....DONT invest money into that CX motor its not worth it!!!!! And trust me i know.....Im in Arizona one of the most popular states when it comes to modifications on a car.....especially imports........dont do it.......try to get a new engine.....even a sohc vtec motor would get u into low 16's high 15's no what i mean.....

hmmmm I dunno really depends.....I mean depends on how your wiring comes on your engine too......Mine they just cut the wires so they should all wire right in to the wires on the engine bay....But at same time they could also use my stock harness from the cx for my b16 so it really depends....id just go for the b16 if i was u....

Ok the b16 comes out of the 92-95 si in japan its just like the 99-00 honda civic si it has the same power and HP and TQ unless u have the jspec which is 170hp other words its the 160HP just like the 99-00 si....Yes its powerful not the most powerful but its worth the money....Your car u have (which is same as me) could be in 14's once that engine is installed...we have the advantage of having one of the lightest civics made.......

my friend dropped a b18c(jdm) into his 92 dx coupe civic and now it's easily as fast as my maxima and it may even be slightly faster.
i run a 14.4 so he's got that and is at most running a 14.2. i was totally impressed when he gave me a ride when he first got it. especailly cuz i remember how slow it was with the old 1.5L 110 hp engine.

ok i'm gonna have to print these pages cause i'm a lil lost so i'm looking for a 99-01 si?..is that the motor y'all are talking about?. i have another question as far as rear speakers is there a factory panel. or am i stuck just buying a box?..my crx had lil pannels but this damm 92 cx has nothing.. i'm still driving my truck.. cause it has music...lol so let's recap i'm looking for a 99-01 si motor.. correct?. how about a integra motor or is the dual motor gonna give me wiring problems.. would the motor from a integra make a big difference?..

if you want a 99-00 si motor you'd be looking for a b16a2 :)
doing a swap is the best route for your ride also. just study and read read read.....

yeah the b18 is an integra engine.
i have one friend with a early 90's hatch back with a b16 jdm in it and another with the b18c(jdm). the one with the integra engine is a lot faster than the b16. especially in 3rd gear, the b18's vtec is totally awesome. it's such a distinct sound
if i were you i would go with the integra engine, accept you may have to sacrifice your power steering and/or a/c to make it fit

if i was you i would just go with a 92-95 sir2 because the 99-00si motor is obd2 and the wiring is going to be a pain in the ass. once you get the b16a sir2 all you have to do is just drop the motor in with some 94-00 integra, 94-97 del sol, or 99-00 si axles and 94-00 or 94-97 del sol shift linkage and you should be all set. then all you have to do for wiring is run the 3 vtec wires and the knock sensor. if you get a complete changeover(includes complete motor,ecu,axles,shiftlinkage,etc...) it will include everything you need to just drop the motor right in with no problem, but with the 99-00 si on some places you will have to get different mounts(i think its the rear, or tranny mount) and the 99-00 si only comes with 160 when the sir2 comes with 170 its usually cheaper than the 99-00si and the installation is straightforward along with the wiring cause everyhting plugs in like it was meant to be there.
btw if you are going to drop a b16a in ther you will also need a integra throtle cable cause the stock one is tooo short and i learned that he hard way cause the throtle cable in my car now is being held by some zip ties placed in strategic areas to hold the cable in place. not for long though cause my itr cable came in and i'm installing it tomorrow. here is a link if you neeed to order the cable. http://store.yahoo.com/twincamtech/oemintypthro.html

you can go with a integra motor which is a b18c(gsr) or b18b if you wanna go with the ls. the easiest swap to do in your car and the least expensive is a b16a sir2 from a 92-95 civic sir2 in japan. you can get the complete swap for $2350 at www.hmotorsonline.com and if i was you i would go with the lsd version. i got my motor for $2200 with lsd cause it was a lucky find. once you get the motor all you have to do is drop it in connect all the plugs and run the vtec wires and knock sensor. you don't have to replace any of the mounts or shiftlinkage and axles(on the b16a) cause they will fit right on your car.

hey dred how far are you from Arthur Ave.?
Btw, all my friends are honda-heads. they all swear by their motors and their mods. i'm tellng you that my friends b18c civic coupe shits all over my other friends b16a hatch, the hatch's power flat lines 3rd gear while the b18 keeps on going. now, i'm not trying to put down 94 civic, he seems very knowledgeable. plus i'm a nissan guy so i'm impartial. I really wanna tell you to buy an old sentra or newer 200sx and drop the sr20det engine in it out of the nissan bluebird, but i don't think that'll happen. trust me dude get the gsr engine if you have the extra $$$

read it again more carefully. keep in mind the major point of the post is that i think it'd be in your best interest to get b18c for your car. you can omit the nissan stuff if it helps clear it up, it's irrelevant.
