whats the difference between dish pistons and low compression pistons

I don't really do any internal engine work, but here's what I remember from school.
Dish pistons are sortta dish shaped... they have a lip around the outside that is higher than the rest.
Low compression pistons just have lower compression than stock. Adding on forced aspiration could require the use of lower compression pistons if the engine has high compression already. I don't know of anything else they would be used for.
Dish pistons could also be low compression pistons.

Stock Compression Ecotec Pistons 10.1:1

Low Compression Ecotec Pistons 8.5:1

Lower the compression ratio, the deep the dish gets. The higher the compression, the dish goes away and relief cuts are made for valves.

If the stock compression is 10:1 and he's got 9:1, yea those will work just fine. For your head gasket order a cometic MLS HG and get the thickest one they offer. It will also lower your compression a smidge more if you'd like.
