Ford Rallye Sport and its WRC rivals will compete in the Telstra Rally Australia this year after a threat to axe the event from the calendar was lifted.
The future of the Perth-based rally had been in jeopardy due to a contractual dispute between the event’s promoters - the Western Australian Tourist Board, and Australia’s motorsport governing body.
But the two parties have now resolved their differences and following a meeting in London yesterday, FIA President Max Mosley and the Hon Clive Brown, Western Australian Minister for Tourism, confirmed that everything is now in place for the event to go ahead as originally scheduled on September 4-7.
Mr Mosley will take the agreement to the World Motor Sport Council (to be held in Paris on April 2)for final ratification.
:) this news makes a person happy.
