hi i just bought a 93' explorer xlt... and the abs light is on and the person i got it from isnt sure what is wrong with it.. he said the changed the brakes and checked everything and couldnt get it to go off... i read on here that it could be a spd sensor. but im not sure. my boyfriend is going to check that wednesday or soo but im also wondering if i could take it to autozone or something and have them scan it for codes and then maybe they could tell me.. but im not sure... please someone let me know... thanks!

The scan tools that Autozone uses are not able to scan ABS codes, unless they've started also using the commercial version of ABS scan tool.
Often the rear axle speed sensor fails on the Explorer, so be sure to have your boyfriend check that one.

I would almost bet it's the speed sensor on the rear axle. Mine had the same issue. I spent 23.00 bucks on a new sensor and the light went off. it takes about 10 minutes to change.
