Hello everyone,
Just a quick reminder to anyone attempting a blower resistor replacement job on a Grand Prix. The size of the screw that mounts the resistor to the heater box is 5.5mm. Found this out after I tore mine down, had to stop in mid-stream to go to Auto Zone for the right socket. Also is highly recommended that you have a 1/4 inch swivel joint for your ratchet. Makes everything much easier. The easiest way to replace this is to be double-jointed or be a contortionist, hard to lay under the dash and still work in insulated coveralls (no heated garage.... ).

When I did mine on a GP I pulled the passenger seat made it a lot easier. The second thing the helped out even more I pulled the blower motor, that way I had a better view of the blower motor resistor. Just my 2 cents.

I've done 20 or 30 of them- all types of GM cars-- mostly in the parking lot for friends at work- the big trick is to NOT take the back two 5.5mm screws all the way out- they are slotted- so it is much easier to install the new one. I keep a spare one at my desk for the next buddy.....
