how do I check the "codes" on my 92 eldo?

Does anyone know how I check the codes on my 1992 Eldorado?... Do I need anything special to do this?.... My other Caddy is easy, I just hit the "off" button and the "high" button on the heater and I get my codes, but that does not seem to work on this one. Please help....

Turn the key to ON.
Simultaneously hold down OFF and WARMER on the climate control.
Watch the dash display.
