2000 GS Fuel pump resistor/bypass???

I've searched the forums and I'm leaning towards the idea that my fuel pump resistor is bad. My car will start and then die after a second or 2 unless I give it some gas, about 2500rpm's or so. When the car is warmed up it's ok.

I bent back the 85 pin on the fuel pump relay to bypass the resistor but the car won't start at all with the pin bent.

I took the car to the dealer and they said the coil pack and plug wires were bad and replaced them. Cost $550. It didn't change a thing.

Can anyone lend their advise on this?

Thanks...

Welcome to AF.

You sure you bypassed the right relay? You are supposed to do the fuel pump speed control relay which should be #18 and not the main fuel pump relay #19.

Best to check fuel pressure at the front fuel rail to see if it is in specs to rule out a fuel supply problem such as the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator.
