I tried posting this earlier but it refused to work so sorry in advance if a double thread shows up. So anyway whenever i shift into gear it does so with a loud CLUNK. And you have to shift with a firm grip so it doesn't pop into one of the surrounding gears. I looked under the car and i think theres a spring missing from one of teh linkage joints. It seems like its sort of an odd part so i dunno if this is something i could get at autozone or what?

Are you parked on an incline/decline? If you're parked on level land, then there might be something wrong but if you're parked on a hill or something, then this behavior will happen.

No it clunks all the time when i shift no matter what but i'm almost positive its the linkage and not something as serious as you might think it would be. I'm getting my exhaust put on right now so i'll have to get a better look when its done just to make sure.

if you disconnect the linkage at the tranny and try to move the shifter to see if its internal..
