Just recentlly on my way to or from work(55 miles each way) my truck has stalled out when I get towards the end of my trip, only when I get off the interstate and go on the local streets and I have to come to a stop. It just starts to idle a little rough for a few seconds then stalls, but it then starts right back up, revs to about 1k and drops to normal range and is fine. Any ideas of what may cause this ? Please help

What kind of gas are you using?

Is something clogged; i.e. fuel filter, cat convertor

Can someone chime in with symptoms for Intake manifold gasket issue? I've never had this issue, not sure what the symptoms are, but it's a common problem for the 2nd generation Rodeo's.

It could be the fuel filter and if you have over 45k on it I would change it.

But it is probably the intake manifold gasket. Super common and I've had my changed 2x on my 2000 (mine did the same thing, stall sometimes when stopping).

If you are the orginal owner you are covered up to 120k miles warranty.

if not the cost at the dealer will be like 350 bucks.

see the FAQ link before for more details

First thing I would do is clean the throttle body and IAC valve. Don't fiddle with the IAC valve to much. Just wipe it gently on the tapered end with a clean cloth sprayed with a little carb cleaner. Make sure the passage inside is clean and clear. If that doesn't help, replace the IAC valve.

I'll explain my reasoning: This valve opens when you let off the gas in order to maintain idle speed. When your driving down the road the IAC valve is completely closed. When you come to a stop, it's not opening up fast enough and causing the engine to die. It restarts because the valve eventually opens. You can try 'two-footing' by stopping with your left foot while keeping the throttle open a smidge with the gas pedal. This will be difficult to do if your car is a manual.
