Radio Auxilary input

Hi-

I have an iPod, and I'm tired of fooling around with fm transmitters. My brother has a deck in his car that has an auxilary input port that he just plugs his into. I was wondering, does the stock radio on the Mazda3 have a similar port I could use? If so, does anyone know where all the screws are so I can get at the radio? Or do I have to go to a shop to get it done?

Thanks in advance

Hi, you can buy the OEM i pod adapter at your Mazda dealer and they can install it too.

I don't blame you.. the FM thingies are a PITA if you're an avid traveler. Their ok if you're sitting still :)

Depends on the year of your 3.. mine's a 2006 that has the BOSE option for a DAT player that could have docked to the bottom of the head unit.

This is the bottom of our head unit.

That's the actual AUXMOD installed in the shot above !!.. Not mine, but the same unit. I have a few other things attached too.

In that docking port, someone designed a simple circuit board that can fake the head unit into thinking the DAT is there, when actually it's a Auxiliary input of either RCA or Mini Headphone connectors. Push the Tape button to activate the added Aux input.

I added a 20" extension to that and have it pop-up beside the shifter.. I plug in my portable XM Sat receiver, or the wife's ipod.. anything that had a headphone jack.

I have pictures and links to other installs if you want to see them, or you can Google AUXMOD with some hits.
