The information on this car isn't really new, but I hope that they are able to release more data on how it was created and whether it did indeed utilize the spare chassis '101SP'. That scenario certainly makes the most sense, but I had read somewhere recently that McLaren Cars was still in possession of the spare chassis. I think faisalkan was the one who said that actually.
QV500 just recently picked up the story, but for a very long time, similar information was located here in a less complete - almost more speculative - form.

I assume that's where you quoted that from gerd. Do you have more info on this car than what is available at those two links? Did they indeed use the spare chassis to create this car? If they did create it on their own - as is stated "...an extra F1 GTR '97 was constructed for racing although not by McLaren themselves...", then would this car really wear the chassis number of "029R" or would it really not have a chassis number?? Seems confusing depending on how legitiment this current info is. I can't imagine McLaren Cars allowing some outside group to assemble a completely new car with their spare chassis.
The only other scenario I can think of to explain the origination of this GTR, is that possibly one of the original long tailed GTR's that was heavily damaged - and there were two of those - was able to be reconstructed by the factory at some point and became the Hitotsuyama Racing F1 GTR. If my scenario did occur though, I would expect that the car would have retained it's original chassis number, and the information in both of these resources doesn't reflect that at all. I'm just throwing it out there as one more possibility since the info on what actually happened still doesn't seem concrete or complete.

Incidentally, this wasn't really mentioned in either of those locations but here's a few more images of this "Mystery F1 GTR" prior to the Hitotsuyama Racing team securing their sponsorship from Yellow Corn. The first pic is fairly rare I'd say. I think it only appeared that way at one JGTC race.
